AI Null, Halo Dave, and Mary
AI Null, a cryptic bot, is malfunctioning. He is the narrator, or, more precisely, the host of the story. In his attempt to reconstitute himself and to remember what has happened, he introduces us to a multi-layered epic saga that follows the journeys of Halo Dave, the first CATG++ Quantum Bot, and his ward, Mary, within a post-apocalyptic Earth.
While on a space station orbiting the Earth, Halo Dave receives a mysterious message from the past: “I will shape it into the face of doG”. This text is part of a story that was sent to Halo Dave. This story, and its virus text, seem harmless at first, but it is a massive conspiracy aimed at changing the very nature of the world as Halo Dave and Mary know it. It is the initial salvo in a war that threatens the existence of Halo Dave, Mary, and humanity itself.
The story has three unique narratives: AI Null, Halo Dave and Mary, and the novel from the past. While they start as distinct voices at the beginning, they soon collide causing some rather strange plot twists.
The story is one of discovery for Halo Dave and Mary. For Ha Pi de Cloun, Jess Terfield, Harvey Kalapski, and Hugo Bones, it is a chance for redemption.
Part 1 - Mary and Me - A Massive Conspiracy
While on their space station, Halo Dave and Mary receive a mysterious message. Within it, are a story from the recent past, and an odd line of code “in the face of doG”. Halo Dave, analyzes the text but is unable to discern what its meaning is. Mary, an inquisitive 12-year old, wants to experience the story, which is the opening chapter of the saga, introducing us to Ha Pi de Cloun and his seemingly innocent tweet, a tweet that upends the entire universe.
Part 2 - Chemical Tales - Brewed evolutions
After hearing the first part of the story, Mary is not happy. For this reason, she wants to change it. Although Mary is determined to change it, she does not yet have the confidence to do so. Halo Dave convinces her to wait until they hear the second chapter. The second chapter of the virus story introduces us to Hugo Bones and Aaron Fust, members of the US Special Operation Command. They are both targets for Ha Pi’s virus text which begins the road to impending disaster.
Part 3 - The AI WARS - Inorganic ouroboros
After hearing the second chapter, Mary is intrigued. In particular, she is curious about violence. Halo Dave, who has no choice but to follow her commands, tries to find a solution that will satisfy Mary but also keep her safe. Halo Dave rigs up an AR-VR holography machine that will allow them to safely interface with the Earth from the safe confines of their space station. Before they head down to the Earth, they listen to the 3rd chapter of the novel, introducing us to Jess Terfield and Harvey Kalapski.
Part 4 - Grog Resin - good vibrations
Mary and Halo Dave use the AR-VR holography machine to interface with the Earth to learn more about the AI wars. They go to GRR Inc. where they can download important files. However, they encounter a small problem forcing them to look for an AI bot called Somnus. On their way to Somnus, they listen to the fourth chapter of the online book, Good Vibrations. In this chapter, Hugo Bones visits Jess Terfield and Harvey Kalapski so he can get a view of the EQRV, the vehicle that will help Hugo Bones and Aaron Fust to create a singularity.
Part 5 - Roman Gods - Honey Saltpeter
Mary and Halo Dave go to a site where AI bots are fighting a human uprising. While there, they meet a Minerva unit who is able to take them down to see Somnus, the AI bot that has relevant information they need.
As they go down to see Somnus, they listen to the fifth chapter of the viral book. In this chapter, Harvey is engaged in a sexual adventure and is interrupted by Hugo Bones. Harvey, who is somewhat inebriated thinks Hugo is an angry father and attempts to fight Hugo. Hugo wins and takes Harvey with Jess in the RV to continue the mission.
Part 6 - Deep Sleep - wounded grass
Mary and Halo Dave confront Somnus. They demand to know about what happened to cause the AI wars. Mary’s abilities continue to grow and she is able to take the data that Somnus created and teleport out of the cavern. She wants to go and see the mysterious Morpheus who is hiding in the rubble of San Francisco.
After leaving Somnus they listen to the next part of the online novel, Wounded Grass. In this chapter, we find out more about Ha Pi De Cloun and why he is so distraught. We learn about his troubled childhood and crazy parents. He is being followed by US SOCUM agents working for Aaron Fust and Hugo Bones. Ha Pi, Harvey Kalapski, and Jess are needed for the operation.
Part 7 - Mister Morpheus - Original Sim
Halo Dave and Mary find themselves in the tunnels of San Francisco, where they encounter an unlikely companion, Bot Scent Dog. Bot Scent Dog knows Mary and helps them navigate the tunnels so they can find Morpheus, the son of Somnus. Mary believes he is the key to helping them understand who sent the virus to Halo Dave and how to save themselves.
Morpheus who knows about the story listens to it with Halo Dave and Mary. This chapter involves Aaron Fust and Hugo Bones. Aaron tries to explain to Hugo the importance of their project and why making the first ancestor simulation on Earth will help humanity find the road to success. Hugo, who is challenged with academic subjects, has deep problems with the idea of a reality outside of the one he knows and is comfortable with.
Part 8 - Wake Up - Entering Tomorrowland
